The casting of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie has had the netosphere in a heated frenzy over the past few days! Evidently, erotica has become main stream ever since E.L. James’ BDSM fiction became the fastest selling book of all time and by summer 2014, the book’s hot-hot-hot lovers Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele will be seen on the big screen to be played by relatively newcomers Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson respectively. The long-awaited casting has been met with harsh criticism by the book’s avid fans that had their bets on A-listers such as Henry Cavill, Matt Bommer, Alexis Bendel and Emma Watson to name a few to the point that they began a Change.org online petition to force movie producers to veto the casting.
Well, all I gotta say to that is JEEZ, LIGHTEN UP! It’s just a freaking book after all. And unless you own a studio and the money to fund the movie, zip it! It wasn’t long ago when Twilight fans were violently against the casting of Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and now they couldn’t get enough of him. I think it’s worth giving the cast actors a try since what’s important is that they effectively translate the characters from print to film.
After all the roles are kind of risqué which would either catapult or sink any artist’s career. God, even supermodel Kate Moss famous for her nude gamine photos turned beet red just reading an excerpt from the book! Well at least, Kate raised £200,000 for BBC Radio by just reading a few lines.
